Microsoft’s World-class Cloud Platform

Scale globally and safeguard your data with Microsoft’s Cloud

There is a reason why organisations around the world are choosing to migrate to the cloud, or at least adopt a hybrid infrastructure. It’s more scalable, it’s readily available, it’s safer and it’s cheaper.

How is your on-premises solution holding you back?

  • It’s hampering your business growth. Every time you want to update you have to modify software and hardware, check you have enough physical space and cooling capabilities – sound familiar? Azure auto-scales as and when you need it to.
  • You’re spending more than you need. You paid an up-front installation cost, now you’re not only paying an IT team to look after it you’re also paying the energy costs and no doubt for separate backup and disaster recovery infrastructure. Azure consolidates costs and transparently shows you what you’re spending and on what.
  • It’s not as secure as you think it is. You’re fending off attacks on both fronts – virtual and physical – costing you unnecessary money and time. Azure’s security is built-in from the ground up.

Seamlessly hybrid

You don’t have to move everything to the cloud straight away. Azure is a great hybrid option to start your cloud journey, sophisticated sync tools mean that the gap between on-premises and Azure is seamlessly bridged.

Use familiar tools and skills and run your applications across both on-premises and cloud taking the best from your existing investments while also giving your IT team the ability to harness the benefits of the cloud.

Azure Virtual Machines are a great example of a cloud advantage. They give your IT team the freedom to experiment and innovate – they can test, develop and get feedback much faster by spinning up a custom VM in a few seconds.

Trusted and secure

We’re going to debunk the myth that on-premises is more secure than cloud.

Here’s a real-life example of how on-premises went wrong for one organisation. The cooling system in their server room broke causing the servers to overheat resulting in downtime for some major business systems. This wouldn’t have happened if their servers were on Azure.

But physical security it just one element. Let’s look at cyber security.

Security is built into Azure from the ground up. Microsoft Azure has:

  • 90+ security certifications – the most comprehensive set of compliance offerings of any cloud service provider
  • 3,500+ cyber security experts working behind the scenes and $1billion worth of investment
  • Companies like e-Share, that handle sensitive data like PHI medical records and ITAR nuclear information, trust Azure as their cloud platform

Microsoft Azure is made up of several different security features that function together to create a robust, trustworthy platform for your applications and data.

Azure Active Directory is a multi-tenant, cloud-based directory and identity management service you can link to your existing on-premises Active Directory to offer a single identity. Your IT team controls single sign-on (SSO) access to cloud SaaS applications like SharePoint and Office 365. As well as device management, multi-factor authentication, role-based access control, self-service group management, application usage monitoring.

Enhanced availability

Azure Disaster Recovery and backup offers a simple, secure, scalable and cost-effective way to store and recover data whether cloud based or on-premises resources. Manage them from a single interface and easily define policies to natively protect, monitor and manage workloads across hybrid and cloud.

Use Azure Site Recovery to configure VMs to fail over to the cloud, or between data centres, and secure them with network security groups. Use Azure backup to protect data from accidental deletion and ransomware by isolating backup data from its original. Restore data much more quickly than on-premises solutions.

Already have a disaster recovery and backup solution like Veeam, Acronis or Backup Exec? You can still use them in addition to Azure, using Azure as a backup target or to orchestrate virtual machine failover should disaster strike.
